“A reason, a season…” … Why A Season?!

Yesterday I was wondering why some people are only in your life for a ‘season’… You know that classic saying, “They are either in your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.” (Or whatever the last bit is)

Well I know a ‘reason’ usually means they’ve come to teach you a lesson, so it can be shorter or longer than an actual season…So I began thinking…why a season?

Then it came to me.

You grow in a season, so whomever’s not growing with you, most likely will get left behind in the last season. The season they haven’t “grown out of” yet. As for you, your character has now changed and developed, ‘grown’ and so the relation between you and those people is now very different. To them you have ‘changed’ and therefore they are no longer beneficial to your life, in essence, they are a hindrance to you as you both are no longer on the same page. Those who continue to grow and therefore develop with you will and probably will stay; thus they won’t just be around for a season. Hence why with couples, they usually stay together because they are usually growing together…they break every season. Together.
